How wonderful is global volunteering !

I went to Cambodia for education volunteering work in this summer. I was there for 2 weeks with 18 students in our university and it was a fantastic experience,Today, I will tell you

"How wonderful experience is global volunteering".

First, I'll talk about 'before departure'.

Since our team was an education and volunteering team, we had to prepare many educational materials for class. We met once a week on Saturday since April and started to prepare the materials.

You guys may think it is hard, boring and tiring preparing materials but actually it's absolutely not. There is so many things to learn from there. Since we had music, piano, K-pop, Korean, science and art classes, we learned how to draw music sheet on computer for piano class and, how to compose the book for Korean class and the English. Since we have to communicate in English with Cambodian students, we had to write the script of all classes in English.
It was really helpful process to all members.

Second, I'll talk about 'During the volunteering'.

We've worked in Life middle&high school and Hunsen high school.
Actually, they were in worse conditions than we thought. Hunsen high school did not have lights in classroom. Also, if it rains heavily, students can't go to school because they don't have any motorcycles, although it is very usual in Cambodia.

Even the darkness couldn't stop our volunteering spirit. Every student has enthusiasm towards learning. When we first got there, they did't know how to play the piano at all and they couldn't even read the music sheet. However, on the last day, they could play 'twinkle twinkle little star' with both hands. I was very proud of them and felt great.

The students in Cambodia are really adorable. I like their pure hearts. They welcomed us and participated in class with limpid eyes. Just 14 days were enough to make us feel attached to each other. A few students cried on the last day of class and we were so touched by their tears.

Furthermore, the people in the volunteering team were really good. They are voluntary, positive and thoughtful. In last 2 days, we traveled Khmer ruins in Cambodia like Angkor Wat. Traveling with our team in hot and humid air became a great experience of my lifetime,

Third is 'After Volunteering'.

Meaningful experience in a foreign country connect the volunteers.  After we came back to Korea, we often meet in a group and have fun. We still talk about the global volunteering and now it remains as precious memories that can be shared between us.

This is the end of my story about global volunteering.
I really recommend it so that you will have the same great experience as me.
I am convinced that you will say "It was the best experience in my life." in the end.

Thank you for reading :D
